History:
Originally in stock cars, she debuted in Cyber Formula at the age of 19. Until
she joined Stormzender, her highest finishes were 10th in the overall
standings--once for [Sebenaaji] in the 13th GPX, and then again for KAM Stampede
in the 15th GPX. She placed 9th in her first year at Stormzender. Before she
became a driver, she was involved in part-time racing-related jobs such as track
marshal.

Marie is tough-minded and devoted to what she does: two extremely useful traits,
considering that the racing world isn't exactly renowned for its enlightened
sexual politics. In fact, Gudelhian--on the grounds that she was (gasp) a woman
and thus not suitable--flatly rejected Heinel's initial proposal to recruit her
for the team. Once that became public knowledge, Kyoko rallied the ladies of
Cyber Formula together and demanded a fair chance for Marie to prove herself in
a one-on-one karting race. If she beat Gudelhian, then she was entitled to join
Stormzender. All the fuss seemed a bit awkward for Marie, who nevertheless did
her best and, after an initial lead, ended up coming a narrow second to
Gudelhian. Even so, he retracted his earlier opposition and invited her to join
the team. When the need arises--and apparently it does fairly regularly when
your teammate's idea of a friendly greeting is to lunge at you, arms wide--she's
more than capable of physically beating Gudelhian down, much to the delight of
the press. As Marie is well aware, it's all like one big show, this "odd
couple" of teammates thing, but unlike Gudelhian she doesn't really lap up
the attention. She's much too professional for that.
That aside, Marie
enjoys snowboarding, likes vegetables and fish, but dislikes cheese--the last
making her a rather dubious example of a Swiss citizen, if you ask me. She also
has multiple vehicle licenses.
Although there's
certainly material about her in the drama CDs, Marie doesn't actually have a
speaking part in any of the shows. You can still play "Where's
Marie?", however, as she's made bit appearances since the TV series days.
From time to time she pops up in crowd scenes, and her car is rather prominent
in the opening sequence to 11. By Zero and Sin, of course, Marie has been
promoted to a more regular onscreen presence, so you don't have to freeze-frame
to spot her.

Comments: The romanized version of her name was initially
