   TEAM's PROFILE

Union Savior

Union Savior
Headquarters: [Britain]
Marque First Established: 2009
World Championships: none...

Corporate Profile:
Union Savior is the parent company behind the Union Savior team--but you probably figured that out already. Union Savior is primarily a British developer and supplier of car parts, with engines (available in regular and Cyber Formula specs) as one of its specialties. Naturally its biggest sales are in Europe, where it greatly increased its share of the market by taking advantage of the expansion of cyber systems into regular cars. In 2018, Karl Lichter von Randoll bought out the Union Savior racing team to become the new team owner.

Team Profile:
Always the bridesmaid, never the bride, Union Savior has failed to live up to its potential despite top-notch drivers and some tantalizingly close results. The team has been in Cyber Formula since the 4th GPX in 2009, when it employed former STAG C.F.R. driver and first-ever CF world champion Wilhelm Heidegger as its driver. That year Heidegger finished 3rd in the final standings, but it was the best result the team would see for a while. Heidegger drove for two years, Karl Bart [Baruto] took over for the next two, then James Kuo had a productive two year tenure with Union Savior, claiming 2nd in the 8th GPX and 5th in the 9th GPX.

In 2015, Shoemach drove the Knight Savior 005 for the first part of the season before being replaced by Randoll and the Issuxark 007. Randoll has been a team fixture ever since, apart from the period when he was out due to injuries and B.H. Garnet had to fill in with the Knight Savior 006. As might be expected, Randoll returned to the circuit in style (?) by buying the team in 2018 during his masquerade as Prince Rosenkreuz. Odd quirks aside, he's brought home a consistent string of 2nd and 3rd place championship finishes, plus the 4th place finish in the 11th GPX that undoubtedly would have been at least a 3rd if Shoemach hadn't been messing with him.

Thanks to the rules changes, Shinjyo was able to join the team at the end of the 2020 season. Miki came along too, of course. Shinjyo earned good results, which just went to show how clueless Aoi truly was. After his return to Aoi in 2023, the second spot on the Union Savior team was filled by Sarah Gallagher, a previously unknown driver who seems up to the challenge of driving alongside Randoll.

Throughout the years of the Cyber Formula anime, Jim Wallace has been Union Savior's long-suffering team manager--his gastrointestinal system hasn't been the same since 2015. After putting up with prima donnas Shoemach and Randoll, 3 of his last 4 drivers parading around in costumes during press conferences, not to mention having the self-centered noble himself as team owner, he now has the pleasure of dealing with the volatile Sarah/Randoll pairing. One can only pray that a merciful god will reward this poor man with a world championship, and soon.

Year-By-Year History:
2009:    4th GPX. Union Savior's Cyber Formula debut. Former world

champ Wilhelm Heidegger is driver, and places 3rd overall.
2010:    5th GPX. Heidegger is 18th.
2011:    6th GPX. Karl Balt replaces Heidegger, and scores a 10th

place finish in the final standings.
2012:    7th GPX. Balt is 10th. Again.
2013:    8th GPX. James Kuo (later listed as James Kaku) steps in as

driver, scoring 2nd in the championship.
2014:    9th GPX. Kuo manages to place 5th overall.
2015:    10th GPX. Shoemach drives the Knight Savior 005 for the first

3 rounds; Randoll and the Issuxark 007 drive from the 6th round

on. Their results get added up to place the team 3rd overall on

              constructor's points.
2016:    11th GPX. The Issuxark 008 is introduced. Randoll finishes 4th

overall, but like I said, that's Shoemach's fault.
2017:    12th GPX. Randoll crashes into Hayato during the 5th round,

putting them both out of commission. At the end of the year,

Randoll is still 6th in points.
2018:    13th GPX. Garnet and the Knight Savior 006 drive for the team

up to the penultimate round of the race, securing 9th in the final

standings. Then Randoll, having bought the team, returns to it

as Prince Rosenkreuz. The latest Issuxark, the 00-X1, is ready

              and waiting for him.
2019:    14th GPX. Randoll is 3rd in the championship.
2020:    15th GPX. Shinjyo joins the team at the very end of the season,

and Miki comes along as a mechanic. Shinjyo finishes 8th,

Randoll 2nd overall. Both drive the Issuxark 00-X3.
2021:    16th GPX. Randoll is 2nd, Shinjyo is 3rd in the final points

standings. So close, so very very close...
2022:    17th GPX. The debut of the Issuxark 00-X3/II. Randoll and

Shinjyo are best of the rest at 3rd and 4th place, respectively.
2023:    18th GPX. Sarah Gallagher replaces Shinjyo as second driver.
